visitBerlin Campus, is a fee-free, interactive e-learning training course offered in English by Berlin Tourismus Marketing GmbH (visitBerlin) at www.campus.visitBerlin.com. It is intended for those active in the international travel industry, such as employees of travel agencies or tour operators. By registering on visitBerlin Campus, participants agree that they have read and understood these terms and conditions.
§2 Registration and participation
Any natural person active in the international travel industry is entitled to participate, including employees, board members and executives. Freelancers or part-time staff such as editors of travel magazines are also entitled to participate.
Registration for the visitBerlin Campus is only possible online at www.campus.visitBerlin.com. Participants must provide the following information to register: Family and given names, employer/client name, email, and employer/client postal address. visitBerlin may exclude any registrant who fails to meet the eligibility criteria from participation in visitBerlin Campus.
When registering, participants must provide a neutral username that excludes any reference to their employer/client if at all possible. In addition, they must select a personal password and confirm their agreement to these terms and conditions by checking the box on the registration page. Registrants will then be sent a confirmation email.
§3 Game process
After successfully logging in, the participants first create an avatar, either “ToBe” (male) or “ToBea” (female). The avatar guides the participants through the entire training programme. The goal of the training programme and its e-learning modules is to inform participants about Berlin as a destination.
As e-learning modules are successfully completed, the avatar receives additional accessories. The e-learning modules are designed so that the participants can freely choose the modules they wish to work on and make their way gradually through the programme.
Upon successful completion of a module, the participant receives a certain number of “points” and “pennies” depending on its scope and difficulty.
The participants will be credited with points/pennies only the first time they have to pass a module. If they run through the module again, they will not receive any additional points/pennies.
In addition, after completing a certain number of modules, participants will be given additional items with which they can accessorise their “My ToBe/ToBea” avatars. These items do not improve the avatar’s level. These items are tied to a specific participant and cannot be transferred.
Once participants complete a certain number of modules, they will be receive an upgraded level. The levels within the e-learning will be expanded periodically to ensure participants always have the option to acquire another level.
§4 Game currency
There are two currencies within the visitBerlin campus: “points” and “pennies”. By completing an e-learning module or participating in promotions in the bonus area, participants will be rewarded with a certain number of points and pennies. The currencies can neither be mixed, replaced or exchanged. They also cannot be withdrawn for cash. The purchase of points/pennies with real-world cash is not possible. Points and pennies are tied to a specific participant and cannot be transferred. They can only be used within the visitBerlin campus.
By completing an e-learning module, participants will be rewarded with a certain number of points and pennies that can only be used within visitBerlin Campus.
Furthermore, participants have the opportunity to participate in real-life challenges. Participants can earn additional points/pennies for visitBerlin Campus by entering into a partnership agreement for the sale of Berlin WelcomeCards or by adding the Berlin WelcomeCard logo onto their company website. Viewing certain areas of the training programme may earn participants additional points/pennies, notice of which will be provided separately. However, this list is not exhaustive; additional real-life challenges may be generated within visitBerlin Campus. Participants can earn additional points/pennies by entering into a partnership agreement for the sale of Berlin WelcomeCards or by adding the Berlin WelcomeCard logo to their employer’s/client’s website. The number of points/pennies available will be announced on visitBerlin Campus prior to each real-life challenge.
Participants may participate in real-life challenges in their sole discretion. Any resulting product sales cannot be rewarded within visitBerlin Campus; instead, any rewards will be rewarded as separately agreed in the participants’ partnership agreements with visitBerlin.
Participants can use points/pennies as follows:
· Points: Participants can view their individual number of points accrued under “My ToBe/ToBea”, which will also show the individual’s rank among all visitBerlin Campus participants. It is not possible to use earned points as in-game currency.
· Pennies: Under “Bonus Area”, participants can acquire Berlin merchandise by completing e-learning modules and collecting pennies. The pennies can then be exchanged for merchandise. The number of pennies required to acquire each item is indicated. Making payments in other currencies to purchase certain merchandise items is not allowed. The in-game currencies listed above are the only means of payment available. During the order process, the participant’s address will be automatically copied from his or her credentials. The data can be changed during the ordering process.
Participants can access their points/pennies balance at any time under “My ToBe/ToBea”. Pennies that are not redeemed do not expire.
§5 Termination of participation/exclusion from visitBerlin Campus
Participants may unsubscribe from visitBerlin Campus at any time. However, participation in the sweepstakes or the redemption of any acquired pennies for merchandise will no longer be possible. Any data provided by the participants will be automatically deleted within 2 months after their participation is terminated. If they wish to do so, participants must unsubscribe from the visitBerlin newsletter separately.
